Ever since the "High Noon" episode, I've always figured kiddy!Carlton had a lot more faith in things than adult!Carlton. And I think what's keeping him from believing Shawn is a psychic has less to do with whether or not he believes in such things and more to do with Shawn just kind of being so flippant about police work and everything. (And he's kind of a smart-ass XD)
