Jaejoong removed the ice pack from Yunho’s eye and gently ran his fingers over the chilled, wet skin. The other winced under his ministrations but didn’t say a word.

“This is gonna bruise,” Jaejoong said. “You’ll probably have a black eye for the next few weeks. Good luck explaining that one to the fans.”

Yunho shook his head. “They’ll probably think I’m being abused.”

“Are you?”

Yunho looked up at him, a warning in his eye. “Jaejoong-ah, we talked about this. I don’t want to hear anything—”

“I know, I know,” Jaejoong cut him off. “You don’t want me talking about the company. Bad habit. Sorry.”

“It’s okay. It seems to be one of many.” Yunho pinched the bridge of his nose. He could feel his sinuses throb from the pressure. “When you’d get such a good punch?"

Jaejoong just shrugged and brushed locks of Yunho’s hair away from his wounded eye. “Things have been rough since we left. I’ve gotten a lot of new skills.” Jaejoong sat on a kitchen stool across from Yunho. “I speak English now.”

“I know. Are you fluent?”

“I’m no Yoochun.”

Yunho winced as he poked the part of his cheek directly under his eye. “I never thought you’d punch me.”

Jaejoong cocked an eyebrow. “Well, nobody told you to sneak up on me. In my apartment. At 11 o’clock at night.”

“I just wanted to see you,” the younger man pouted. His swollen eye made him look adorably pathetic and his lower lip was actually quivering; Jaejoong knew it was all just for show because he knew that Yunho knew that Jaejoong had no defense against a needy Yunho.

It was comforting that even after three years apart, that hadn’t changed.

“Jerk,” Jaejoong teased. “You can always see me. You don’t have to sneak over.”

Yes, he did, because even though Jaejoong was willing to see him, Yunho knows his management wasn’t about to let him.

Still, Yunho smiled. “Well, that’s good to know.”

“Your face is still thinner than it should be. Aren’t they feeding you?”

Yunho rolled his eyes and pretended to faint onto Jaejoong’s kitchen table. “I haven’t had a decent meal in three years.”

Jaejoong stifled a smile and swung open his refrigerator door. “Chicken or pork?” he asked as he began rifling through the well-stocked shelves.

“Surprise me,” Yunho answered.

“Beef then,” Jaejoong replied, pulling out a package of sliced meat. Only the best for Yunho.

It didn’t take long for the kitchen to fill with the smell and sound of sizzling meat. Jaejoong let himself be lulled by domesticity of the scene: Yunho puttering around his kitchen searching for his rice cooker and him standing over a warm stove, heat from the cooking food making his face flush.

Yunho came up and hugged him from behind. “Smells good,” he said close to Jaejoong’s ear. Something warm and comforting melted in Jaejoong’s chest and made his breath catch. He was glad Yunho was standing directly behind him, holding him up. He wasn’t sure he’d be able to keep himself up all on his own.

“Of course it does,” Jaejoong said, his voice breathy and low. “I’m cooking it.”

Yunho chuckled and his warm breath puffed against Jaejoong’s neck.

“Jaejoong-ah?” Yunho began.

“Hmmm?” Jaejoong answered, pulling him closer.

“I’ve missed this. I missed you.”

Jaejoong grabbed Yunho’s hand and gave it a squeeze. “I missed you, too. I’m glad you came by. I was beginning to think…” Jaejoong’s voice trailed off weakly.

“What?” Yunho probed.

“I was beginning to think there would be no room for me—for us—in the new TVXQ.”

Yunho raised the other man’s hand and placed a kiss on his open palm. “Crazy. There’ll always be room for you.”

“I hope so,” Jaejoong said quietly.

Yunho reached around Jaejoong for the bottle of cooking vinegar and twisted the top off. It took some finagling to get the plastic safety ring off the bottle’s neck, but he was able to do so without snapping it. Splaying Jaejoong’s left hand open, Yunho slipped the white ring onto his finger.

“Ow,” Jaejoong whined. “This thing’s cutting my finger.

“Shush. You’re ruining my moment.” Yunho brought Jaejoong finger to his lips and kissed it where the plastic ring sat. “I, Jung Yunho, vow that I will never stop loving you, Kim Jaejoong, even if you go and forget all of your Korean and I have to learn how to say ‘I love you’ in French.”

“You could do that now, you know. It could be our own secret code.”

“I don’t think it’s a secret if it’s spoken by an entire country.”

Jaejoong shrugged. “Just a thought.”

Yunho smirked and kissed Jaejoong’s temple in reply.

The older man reached over and loosened the red twist-tie from a nearby loaf of bread. He twisted it into a small loop and placed it on Yunho’s left hand.

“And I, Kim Jaejoong, vow that I will love you, Jung Yunho, for all eternity no matter how many albums, music videos or dramas you decide to do without me.”

Yunho leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Jaejoong’s neck. “I love you, Jaejoongie.”

“I love you, too, Yunho.”

They stood there, holding each other up, as their dinner continued cooking. Jaejoong glanced down at the white ring circling his finger. They’d had couple rings before. Beautiful rings with gold and diamonds. And he cherished this cheap piece of plastic just as much as he had those.

“Jaejoong-ah,” Yunho started, interrupting Jaejoong’s reverie.

“Hmmm?”

“…I think we just got married.”

A/N: Okay, so I wrote this for Tumblr and my new Tumblr rule is "no overthinking." That means I write and publish what I write without stressing out about it. The point is to produce copy and to get used to the flow and development of idea. So if this doesn't flow just right or if there are parts that don't make sense, well...I guess that's just a sign of much I need to improve my writing process.

That said, Yunho and Jaejoong are totally married. I'm not unconvinced a conversation like this hasn't happened.
